In
September 2001, we cruised on the Veendam from Vancouver to Alaska and
back. The ship was excellent in all respects and our trip was terrific.

This panorama was taken off the coast of British Columbia. I enjoy the moodiness of it. |

This was taken while passing north on the Inside Passage. |

In the still calmness of the morning, a Princess ship rests across the harbor in Juneau. |

Ladies of the evening are found everywhere. But not here in the former hookers' colony of Ketchican; these gals run a tourist attraction in the former home of the town's last madam. |

Texas, eat your heart out! Alaska's got big fish! :-) |

Downtown Skaqway was said to be the inspiration for the TV series, Northern Exposure. It certainly has the right feel and flavor to it. |

The Veendam enters Glacier Bay. Floating bits of ice have broken off the glaciers and melt as they float out to sea. |

The deep, intense blue of the glacier comes through in this picture. |

A small group of helicopters took off from Skagway for a tour of the ice fields and glaciers. Here a little red copter looks almost lost against the mountain and glacier in the background. (Reflections from the copter canopy are evident in this picture.) |

The size of the glaciers were so large that they were mind boggling. |

A second stop was made for us to experience the unique structure of this glacier. |

The intense blue is accurately displayed in this photo. This picture was taken from our copter from a distance of about 50 yards. |

A nice arial view of a glacier. |
