In October
2001, we spent a week in Québec, Canada. There still was some
changing of the colors and the weather was beginning to turn a
little crisp. The seasonal crowds had left and so many of the little
tourist shops were
closed.
(46K) 720 x 235 | This is a panorama of old Québec taken from the old citadel walls. The Chateau Frontenac, a hotel dating to the late 1800's continues to dominate the skyine. | (55K) 720 x 228 | Fall color framing the St. Lawrence River. | (95K) 529 x 648 | One of many narrow, winding streets so reminiscent of France. |
(93K) 648 x 486 | A nice skating rink is set up next to the old city walls. | (72K) 648 x 486 | Views of the St. Lawrence River from the Chateau Frontenac. | (60K) 338 x 648 | A somewhat misty (mystical?) vertical panorama of the Chateau Frontenac. |
(76K) 648 x 615 | Aview of some of the dormers, chimneys, towers and windows of the Chateau Frontenac. | (58K) 648 x 486 | The main dining room of the Chateau Frontenac has hosted many presidents and members of royalty over the past. | (102K) 467 x 648 | A local church sponsored a Halloween parade which terminated in the cemetary of the oldest church in Québec City. |
(59K) 648 x 486 | The band was a ragtag group in high spirits and costumes. | (93K) 486 x 648 | Other members of the band dressed in amusing costumes. | (53K) 648 x 465 | The movement of a man in a devil's costume creates an amazing illusion. |
(62K) 529 x 648 | Avery creative zombie, risen from his crypt in the cemetary. Ohhh scary!!! | (88K) 648 x 473 | PlaceRoyal was the original settlement of of Québec. After the fortifications were completed, the Place Royal was abandoned to commerical ventures and later it became a slum. After urban renewal, the area is now trendy. | (51K) 648 x 486 | Shops and services now fill the old buildings in Place Royal. |
(68K) 486 x 648 | The shops of Place Royal are colorful and full of surprising merchandise. | (58K) 486 x 648 | It just doesn't get more quaint than the Place Royal. | (84K) 486 x 648 | A view up from Place Royal past the fortifications to the newer city frames a sunset. |
(103K) 648 x 486 | The area of Trois Rivieres is quaint. | (62K) 648 x 486 |
Fall view of Baie St. Paul. | (92K) 625 x 648 | A delightful mansion in the area of St. Anne du Beaupré. |
(93K) 648 x 486 | One of a great many fish smokers in the area St. Anne du Beaupré. | (85K) 378 x 648 | The Chutes of St. Anne are well known. The park has delightful hiking trails. | (80K) 486 x 648 | John and Graciela on the hanging bridge at the Chutes of St. Anne. We were about150 feet above the canyon floor below. |
